WOULD YOU BUY IT?

It's not a surprise when most designer brand garments cost more than the 1K mark. For instance Proenza Schouler and Chanel handbags are always typically over $1000, as these are considered high-end. But when designers start creating pieces that are widely stapled as low-end and can easily be bought for $10 or less at Walmart, there comes a fine line between fashionably smart and seriously silly.

Here are some of those ridiculously priced items:

Balmain's Slashed army t-shirt, costing $1,625.00. A t-shirt with holes and rips that I can make with my own scissors or fingers --would you buy it? I wouldn't!

Pistol Panties' bathing suit, costing $2,986.00. Yeah it's made of 5,000 Swarovski crystals, but really? You can't even swim in this thing. It looks like a cross between a jockstrap and a bralette, not cute!

Michael Kor's infamous cashmere sweatpants, costing $995.00. It's more fitted and I guess stylish for a pair of sweatpants, but almost $1000?? There's a reason why sweatpants are called sweatpants..

Louis Vuitton's "Raindrop Besace Tote" for $1,960.00. This bag looks, moves, and sounds just like a trash bag. The only difference is the price tag. Oh, and leather straps.

Again, Louis Vuitton's "Tribute Patchwork Bag", costing a whopping $38,000-45,000. This is just plain silly, would anyone really buy this?

BUTTON UP! BUTTON UP!

Perry tried to tell me a few weeks ago to start wearing shirts buttoned all the way up, but it seemed a little too frumpy and conservative for me. I, personally, was never a big fan of buttoning shirts up to the collar because it kind of felt suffocating and looked too prim and proper for everyday wear.

Recently however, this button-up trend has been popping up all over the place, from the blogosphere to magazines to runway shows. And I have to say, it's kind of growing on me.

I must try out this trend soon--maybe later this week, or maybe tomorrow haha. What do you guys think, is it posh and chic or too similar to elementary school get-ups?

And if Mr. Pharrell Williams is buttoning up, then I must say that I'm hella on board with this trend!

I'M MAKING MYSELF: NIKE

Fresh pair of Nikes hit the pavement, thoughts rush out, inner peace seeps through your soul, and beads of sweat drip with every stride. When I'm feeling a little stressed or just need a break, there's nothing I love more than working out, whether it's going for a quick run, building up strength through kick-boxing, or a little one-on-one time with my yoga mat. And there's always one brand that I turn to when I work out -- Nike.

I've always loved Nike ads, I mean what's more empowering than their "Just Do It" slogan? Check out Nike's new ads which have been popping up in every major women's fashion magazine. Entitled I'm Making Myself: _____ , the ad series captures the strength and power of women athletes.

FROM TV TO YOUR CLOSET

If you've ever found yourself sitting on your couch on a Monday night watching 90210 and wishing you could have the clothes that the girls on the show wear, then your prayers have been answered. Bebe's design team has been working with 90210 stylists to launch the bebe for 90210 line which is now available online and in stores. Prices range from about $29-$159, and also includes shoes, jewelry, and handbags. If you've watched the show in the last couple weeks, they have been wearing clothes from the line. Here's a few looks from the show that you can purchase from Bebe:

Judging from the images taken from the show this line looks really wearable, and its such a great concept. I just wish someone would take this idea and make a line for clothes worn on Gossip Girl!

STEP UP TO THE FLATFORM

Phil the ground hog didn't see his shadow this year, which means spring is coming extra early. So if you are getting yourself ready to rock all of the new trends, don't forget the shoes! This Spring the shoe to wear is a mixture between a flat and a platform, also known as: the flatform. So clever! Super high yet easy to walk in, flatforms just might be the perfect way to stand a little taller without having to worry about falling on your face. For all the shoe lovers out there here are some examples of flatforms that could make you want to add this style to your shoe collection:

I wasn't sure how I felt about this trend at first, but after seeing a few different variations of the flatform I'm ready to channel my inner Spice Girl and wear a pair of these shoes this Spring!

WHAT TO WEAR: OUTDOOR SPRING EVENTS

With Spring comes outdoor events: music concerts, art festivals, and picnics in the park. This year, Picnic Day and Coachella are both taking place on the same weekend (April 16th-17th). For these events, comfort is key. Long hours in the sun and on your feet can be taxing, so opt for comfortable shoes first and foremost. Wear some classic tennis shoes like the adorable Emma Watson (below) or cute sandals a la Kate Bosworth and Rachel Bilson. Second, I recommend breathable clothing. These include materials like cotton and linen. Avoid anything that's polyester or rayon, since they don't allow as much air flow. Also make sure to carry a bag that's functional and doesn't weigh you down. I suggest a small crossbody bag, or you could go with an edgy tribal print knapsack like Rachel. Hats (try a straw fedora or a floppy hat, both big for spring) and sunglasses can come in handy during the day, as well as some sort of cover-up for when the sun goes down. So no matter which event you choose to take part in, I've gathered up some inspiration to help you look cute and stay comfortable. Finally, don't forget the sunscreen!

RACHEL ROY PRESENTS "MOVE"

Rachel Roy just debuted a new short film for her Spring collection entitled "Move." Not only is Roy one of my favorite designers, but I absolutely love the way she presents her collections each season. Her lookbooks are always inspiring, different, bold, or all three.

"Move" showcases a garment's mobility and transformative nature in an aestetically pleasing way. Roy's designs flow across each dancer's body differently and really capture the spirit of the wearer. Although I love the structured clothing which is popular during the colder seasons, I'm excited to see more movement and free form apparel this Spring.

As noted by the Rachel Roy team, "there's nothing to lose, there's nothing to prove, MOVE."

UP AND COMING DESIGNER: MARY CATHERINE MOODY

Designers like Phillip Lim, Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, Tory Burch, and Marc Jacobs are debuting their collections for Fall 2011 right now at New York Fashion Week. Some of these designers are seasoned pros and have been doing it successfully for years. Others are just starting out in the professional design world. Mary Catherine Moody, one half of the creative genius behind the brand new fashion label, Aman Stovall, recently showcased the collection that she and design partner, Brent Johnson, spent 6 months designing. Mary, a 2010 graduate from the University of Alabama with a degree in Apparel Design, has already earned a name for herself in the industry for her impeccable embellishment techniques, good photography, and computer graphic skills . During college, she created a collection that won her first place for fashion achievement at her university, and interned in New York for the prestigious designer Lela Rose. It's no surprise that upon graduating, she went straight to work creating her own luxury label, taking inspiration from her role models: Karl Lagerfeld and Oscar de la Renta. Here is a peek at the new collection as well as some behind-the-scenes images from the process behind the label's creation.

And here is the lovely duo. Follow them here as they document their journey to becoming successful women's wear designers. Also, for up-to-date news on fashion week, click here.

FASHION WEEK FAV: JASON WU

New York Fashion Week started on February 9th, and while looking through pictures from the runway shows I couldn’t help but fall in love with the lace and incredible details in Jason Wu’s Fall 2011 collection. The designer, who is most well known for designing Michelle Obama's inauguration ball gown in 2008, took inspiration from the 25 year renovation of the French palace Versailles as depicted in “Parcours Museologique Revister” by Robert Polidori. In the spirit of Versailles, touches of gold were added to everything from stilettos to the hair of models. You can see from the pictures that Wu paid very close attention to the details of his entire show, and it gave off a very feminine but edgy vibe. Here are some pictures from this fantastic collection:

Such a fun look! Also love the chandelier in the background, and the fact that the runway itself was made out of antique mirrors.

Added a feminine touch to the menswear inspired look with the lace detail on the sleeves of the jacket.

Love the mix of feathers and lace! The designer used 15 different types of French lace through out this collection.
