Make Up II All about ' Tres Vichy'

To play coy and having and understated kind of sexuality was the epitome of who Lolita was.

And for Spring 2011 Make Up For Ever came up with 'Tres Vichy', a tribute to the famous 60's bombshell Bridgitte Bardot. I would have to say her look came of as a bit of a sex kitten and at the same time exuding a very classic look. And that look has stayed a favorite for many up to the present times.

What does 'Tres Vichy' mean? It actually means 'very gingham' and has a look of being very girly and chic.

The line is just that- sexy and refreshing- perfect for the warm summer days.

There are three features that are highlighted with the products- the eyes , the eyelashes and the cheeks.

Retail Price: TBD

The Star Powder Diamond shimmers and the sheer tint blends with the eye shadows creating a mesmerizing sheen on your lids. You can apply this not only on your face, but as a body shimmer on your body. They are in four yummy sorbet like shades that will brighten up your look for the coming warm months.

Colors Available are in Crystal White, Sweet Pink, Peach Pink and Pale Green.

Retail Price: TBD

There is also the Tres Vichy Palette which is useful, portable and absolutely adorable when it comes to adding more oomph to a fresh summer look. Its comes with an embedded mirror and has the pink and white gingham pattern as the casing design. It has come with the Crystal Diamond Eye Color #301 and Crystal Diamond Cheek Color #303.

Retail Price: $ 15 / PHP 650

The Très Vichy Faux Lash is one of the highlights of the collection as it contributes to a whimsical fantasy of women. They have one of the most unique accessories-- pink gingham bows attached to the lashed. It is an interesting twist on the pin-up look that was very popular during the time. I suppose wearing it would be like the cherry on top the whole look. If you love experimenting with looks, try this adorable pair.

I think the whole collection is enough to create a decent look. And for me, as a customer, I find that it was easy to grasp the collection since there weren't too many products distracting me left and right. Each of the products highlighted different key features and they all work well with one another that the money you spend on it definitely doesn't go to waste.

Fashion II Sneaky Spikes

If Christian Louboutin hasn't poured out all of his ideas on his yummy shoes, he creates a new baby that looks interesting as it is dangerous~ for your pocket and for your feet.

The Christian Louboutin's " Louis Tik Tik Sneakers" go wild on the spikes.

Putting spikes on clothing, accessories and shoes are nothing new but putting so many different kinds on one show makes it so unique and almost like some kind of art. The style is a high cut, up to the ankle, and is made of black leather. The simple design makes the perfect background for the spike detailing.

Retail Price: $1,300 / PHP 56 100

The Christian Louboutin Louis Tik Tik Flat Sneakers are part of Christian Louboutin Men’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

"LIFE IN A DAY" DOCUMENTARY

You wake up, go to school or work, and then go about your usual daily routine.  But have you ever thought about what is happening in another person's life who lives halfway around the globe?

On July 24, 2010, thousands of people around the world uploaded videos of their lives to YouTube to take part in “Life in a Day”, a historic cinematic experiment to create a documentary film about a single day on earth. Since then, Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald and a team of editors have whittled down over 80,000 clips (and more than 4500 hours of footage) into a 90-minute film that gives an honest and inspiring glimpse of our world. So what would your video clip be depicting your life in a day?

REFINERY 29 X SF

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the site Refinery 29. It is an American lifestyle and fashion news report covering everything from beauty trends, new stores, and odd little tid bits happening from coast to coast. As one of my favorite sites to peruse while online surfing, I was immediately excited that they started including a special section on what's happening in San Francisco. Refinery 29 San Francisco launched on April 18 and has been featuring stories on hill-friendly heels and a few favorite SF eateries from local chefs, yum! Can't wait to explore all new stores and sites they feature on the Bay!

PRINTS AND STRIPES: FASHION + INTERIOR DESIGN

Two trends that I've been noticing during my daily peruse of both fashion and interior design blogs are bold prints and black and white stripes.  I'm loving both of them, especially considering their appropriateness for Spring!
Whether it's a tribal print or a geometric pattern, these punchy textiles are bold and add flair to any outfit or interior space. Plus, mixing prints and patterns can look chic as well! The trick to doing this is to stick to a basic color scheme and keep the prints grounded with neutral accessories (or furniture!). Proenza Schouler, known for mixing patterns, serves as a good inspiration for how to do it well, and Madewell makes good patterned pieces that can either be worn alone or with other separates. I can't wait to pair my florals and stripes! Tastefully of course.

Black and white stripes have always been chic. A simple striped shirt is extremely versatile and can serve as a wardrobe staple for countless seasons. Black and white furniture and walls, on the other hand, are a little more complicated to pull off. They're dramatic and loud, serving as the centerpiece of the room or space. Thus all other furniture and textiles should be kept simple and neutral-colored.

MICHAEL KORS IPHONE CASE

Hate having to carry that big technology block called the iPhone in one hand and your wallet in the other?  Or dragging your purse around the dance floor?  Well now, there's a solution for that.  Michael Kors, renowned fashion designer and judge on Project Runway, recently released this totally cute iphone clutch/wristlet.  The wristlet fits both Verizon ( iPhone 4) and AT&T iPhone 4, 3GS, and 3G designs.  The idea of a multi-functional wristlet is brilliant!  Not only is it chic and classic, but it also makes going out a lot easier.  The clutch has 3 credit card or ID slots and a slot specifically made to fit your phone.  The clutch comes in 3 designs and retails for $79.99.  My personal favorite is the python print design. Here are a few photos for you to decide if you love it or hate it!

PICNIC DAY: TIE-DYE

Where can you milk a cow, go through a lazar maze, listen to a battle of marching bands, enter your dog in a doxie derby race, watch a bike parade, fashion show and chemistry magic show all in one day? At the infamous UC Davis Picnic Day! This is the largest student run event in the nation and has been celebrated on campus for over 100 years.

With a fantastic team of student planners, volunteers and faculty, the Division of Textiles and Clothing participated in Picnic Day by successfully running tie-dye tables and selling over 670 t-shirts!

Preparation Day- Students painted posters and prepared the dyes.

Day of the Event- Enthusiastic volunteers advertised the event to people walking along the campus street, helped at the t-shirt stop, assisted customers with rubber-banding and dyeing their shirts, and spent time cleaning up after the event

Special thanks to Samantha Weinmen, Luis Legaspi, Van Nguyen, Joan Chandler, and Andrew Jackura who put extra efforts into making this event such a hit!

Fashion II Shield the Sun

Summer is here and the sun is hotter than ever. Yes, it is the perfect time to sport that summer tan ( plus, sexy tan lines) but do not forget to keep yourself protected from those nasty, harmful UV rays!

Apart from having your trusty SPF make up products and Sunblock, I suggest you wear a hat when you go lounging about the beach.

Now caps are alright BUT they do not provide you with enough protection from the sun. The parts of your face that will be receiving the most protection would have to be your forehead, your eyes and maybe, your nose. Now wouldn't that be wierd to have such an odd tan line on your face?

It's suggested that there has to be around 5 to 7 inches of hat to protect your delicate faces. This is especially important for the 10 AM to 4 PM sunshine, since this is when the harshest rays come from the sun, and could contribute to possible sunburns and even ( in the long term) skin cancer.

Fashionable alternatives would be straw hats! They're made out of natural fibers that provide your scalp and skin the much needed ventilation.

Floppy hats are classic and give you 360 degrees of protection. The shape is feminine and give your swimsuits that 40' chic vibe.

Straw cowboy hats are edgier and more fun. Its much easier to move around and it is a unisex style, so it appeals more to the more active types.

Straw hats are stiffer than the floppy hats and channel the ultimate beach bum vibe. They come in an array of patterns and materials, so there are so many to pick from.

Take your pick and see which hats suit your taste

Have an awesome summer~

and remember, it doesn't have to be at the expense of your skin! :)
