Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and what is beautiful is purely objective. If everyone thought the same things were beautiful, fashion would become incredibly boring and unimaginative. This is where the idea of androgyny comes in. Many new-age fashion designers and photographers have played with the ideas of an unknown beauty, where people know it is beautiful but are not exactly sure what it is. The mystery of gender and surface image are questioned with the use of androgynous fashion, design, and art which makes people wonder what beauty really is to them.
